Cross country ski 33 kilometers of trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. Then head into Glacier National Park on a guided backcountry tour. Or, explore the steep and deep on a self-guided adventure in the Great Bear Wilderness behind our trail system. The Inn offers a cornucopia of free heel fun!
We groom daily with a fleet that includes a Pisten Bully. The trails wind through gently rolling terrain next to ice-encrusted streams located mostly on National Forest land just across the Flathead River from Glacier National Park. 30% rated easiest, 50% more difficult, 20% most difficult.
Our onsite experienced instructor offers outstanding clinics and private lessons for all skill levels, and as Western Montana’s family-friendly resort, the Izaak Walton Inn offers individual attention, & unique family lessons giving members at different levels the chance to laugh and learn together.
Cross country ski instruction at the Izaak Walton Inn is more than just about learning a new skill or refining your form: it’s about having fun and creating memories in a spectacular scenic environment.

If you can walk, you can snowshoe! Half-day guided snowshoe tours offer a low-key non-technical way to experience Glacier Park’s winter wilderness. Highlights often include crossing Ole Creek on a suspension bridge and climbing to views of Essex and the peaks of the Flathead Range. On the way we read abundant animal signs and pass under towering Larch trees. Since most first time snowshoers can travel on terrain that would challenge strong intermediate skiers, options for snowshoe tours include climbing one of several nearby peaks via a safe forested ridge. Rental equipment is available.
** Snowshoe rentals are not included in the package price.
**We are unable to book more than 8 people on tour.
