Nestled in a million acres of wilderness
and forest near the southern tip of Glacier
National Park, the Izaak Walton Inn is an
exciting place to work.
Our guests come to Northwestern Montana from
all over, so we get to know people from many
different countries, cultures, and
backgrounds.
Glacier Park has been called the USA's
Number One park for hikers and is a popular
touring and hiking destination with hiking,
horseback riding, and bus tours in the
summer and cross-country skiing or
snowshoeing in the winter.
Though the Inn serves thousands of guests
each year, the tiny community of Essex has
only a few dozen permanent residents.
Obtaining groceries or "urban" entertainment
means a drive of 40-60 miles. (Car pooling
is quite popular!)Access to the Inn is via
Amtrak train or automobile. There is NO bus
service or airport within 60 miles.
