Nestled in a million acres of wilderness and forest near the southern tip of Glacier National Park, the Izaak Walton Inn is an exciting place to work. Our guests come to northwestern Montana from all over the world, so we get to know people from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
Glacier Park has been called America’s number one park for hikers. It is a popular touring destination with world class hiking, horseback riding, river rafting, kayaking and don't forget the renowned red bus tours over Going-to-the-Sun road. Winter offers a whole new look at this glorious park with ample cross-country skiing, back country alpine skiing and miles of snowshoeing.
Because of its rail history and the active switchyard outside the hotel, the Inn is also a haven for rail fans.

Though the Inn serves thousands of guests each year, the tiny community of Essex has only a few dozen permanent residents. Obtaining groceries or “urban” entertainment means a drive of 40-60 miles. (Car pooling is quite popular!)
Access to the Inn is via Amtrak train or automobile. There is NO bus service or airport within 60 miles.
